How to Share Data on MTN

If you have a large data bundle, sharing it among family and friends on MTN network is quick and simple - simply follow these steps below:

1. Dial *321#
2. Choose 2 to Gift  Data
3. Choose 1 for transfer from data balance or 2 to buy for your friend
4. Enter the recipient number
5. Choose the data amount
6. Choose 1 to proceed.

Note that MTN users can only share data with each other; if sharing with someone from another network, please ask them to purchase an individual data bundle

Open the MTN app

As soon as you have opened the MTN app on your smartphone, and entered a USSD code related to data transfer, a menu with several options will open up - select "Data Sharing," choose the amount of data (MB or GB), then confirm. Be mindful when choosing how much to transfer.

Once you have selected an amount of data to transfer, you'll be asked for the recipient's phone number and entered it correctly before submitting your request. When sent out to them, your request must be accepted in order for transference to complete successfully.

MTN Data Sharing can help keep your mobile data usage under control, but be sure to monitor it frequently to make sure there's enough for the month. Also try limiting social media use and installing less data-hungry applications; whenever possible, connect to Wi-Fi whenever possible as this will further decrease consumption.
