How to Share Data on Airtel

Airtel data sharing can be an efficient and practical way to keep in touch with family and friends, providing an easy way for you to share data between devices. In this article, you will learn how to do just that in just a few simple steps.

Dial the USSD code

Airtel USSD code offers a convenient and straightforward method of sharing data between Airtel SIM cards. As it doesn't incur additional charges or require app downloads, using it makes the transfer more secure as an authorization pin protects against unintended transfers. Please be aware that only data bundles purchased directly from Airtel network can be shared.

  1. Start the process by dialing *141# on your Airtel mobile phone,
  2. Selecting Option 6 ("Data Sharing and Gifting", also referred to as "Me 2 U",
  3. Then choosing how much data you wish to share.
  4. Enter the recipient number to share data to,
  5. Then confirm the transfer.

Once transferred, recipients will be notified by SMS message that it has arrived safely and can access it immediately.

PIN protection can also be set for your data sharing and gifting accounts to prevent unwarranted transfers from your account. To change the default PIN on an Airtel phone, dial *141# then option 4, enter 1234 as your old PIN, followed by any four-digit pin of your choice that you would like confirmed before receiving an SMS confirming its alteration. It is wise to periodically alter this setting to safeguard the integrity of your data.

Smart Share

Airtel allows users to share data up to twice per day, with both recipients experiencing its original validity. You can also take advantage of their SmartShare service to give someone else access to data subscription.

To use Airtel SmartShare on a mobile phone, dial *141# and select option 6 (Gifting or Me2U). When prompted to create your transfer PIN from its default value of 1234 to any four-digit pin of your choice - to prevent any unauthorized transfers out of your account, either use My Airtel App or dial *141# on your phone! To change it when it's time, merely change your transfer PIN by dialing *141# directly on your phone!

Ask a Friend

Shared data will expire with their original bundle at its expected date of expiry.

Airtel also allows users to send data using its Ask a Friend feature, making this convenient and safe but may take slightly longer for your data to arrive at its recipient.
